In the course of our conversation, we will explore Jnana Yoga - the Yoga of Knowledge, based primarily on the teachings of the Upanishads. This should serve as an introduction for all those interested in pursuing Yoga beyond the physical aspects of the discipline.
We will talk about Meditation as described in the Upanishads. After a brief introduction to Vedanta, we will discuss the 3-step Vedic model for learning - Shravana, Manana and Nidhidhyasana. Then we will move on to the Mahavakyas, and discuss their import. This will be followed by an exploration of the Vedic model of the mind, and how this affects the meditative process. Finally, we will discuss the relationship between Vedanta and Yoga.
The sessions will be interactive and will help everyone develop insights into the extraordinary Vedic tradition that forms the basis for Yoga.
